Spirit Is the Old New

January 17, 2016

As a professional life coach I naturally love personality assessments. However, you can't personality test your spirit!

Personality assessments are great tools to help us understand and then lean into our natural bent. The problem is what we assume is our natural bent is often nothing more than a learned coping mechanism ego constructed for survival.

In working with clients we inevitably explore the greater reality of one's true inner voice that beacons instead of the hallmark of personna, which drives us. We explore the dimension of spirit being timeless and ageless.

You were the same person in your mother's womb as you'll be when taking your last breath. Your spirit self isn't the part of you reaching for shiny objects to feel important. Your spirit already knows it's Source and true identity. It only needs to be awakened through listening and responding to the true voice within.

We'd experience much more freedom if we recognized that the things here are to be enjoyed, but they don't add anything to self. Sort of like one of my favorite senior quotes from back in the day that landed in my high school yearbook,

"Going to school makes you no more of a scholar than going to McDonalds makes you a hamburger."

Who you are is intrinsically unique and highly adored by your Maker. You can't do anything to top that!

Artful living, then, is the fine mingling of our spirit and natural, human self. It is recognizing that in reality there is no separation. It's only in the mind that this distortion exists.
