It's a Family Affair

Kimberism “In family life, love is the oil that eases friction, the cement that binds closer together, and the music that brings harmony." Eva Burrows   More and more I find myself engaged in the topic of family.  The powerful ability a healthy family has to infuse, support and build sometimes gets overlooked. Yet when reflecting on transitioning through difficult times, a new location, or specifically widowhood, family was the vehicle that helped usher in wholeness. Family is still that vehicle of grace.

Interestingly family isn’t necessarily about bloodlines, nor always composed of those that live next door, or down the street, but those that have the ability to expand their own lives to welcome the outsider.

When my children and I relocated to North Carolina, while healing from the devastation of loss, it was the love of those that took us under their wing like family that helped us heal and flourish. People like the Tusings, Arbogasts, Jakliks, Thompsons, Hardees, Peroyeas and more. We were truly blessed with family though our natural family lived miles away.

It wasn't long after that I found I had been expanded and couldn’t help but reach out in a similar manner with the love I had received. Now I am hooked and the idea of family has grown into a larger vision. Although the idea of family is an elementary one, it is far from ordinary.
