Kimberism: Being busy does not always mean real work. The object of all work is production or accomplishment and to either of these ends there must be forethought, system, planning, intelligence, and honest purpose, as well as perspiration. Seeming to do is not doing.Thomas A. Edison
I am a person who loves to make lists. I feel great satisfaction when I cross items off my list as accomplished. However, recently I have been in the midst of some very large projects, so less actually gets marked off my list within any given day.
To establish better self-care I have determined that I need small daily accomplishments, so I can actually see the forward movement in my life. This may not be important to you, but frequently I run across women who are so overwhelmed with lack of obvious progress in their day to day life that they don't even begin to move toward their goals. How are you putting into place small, strategic steps to combat overwhelm and move toward your goals daily? I challenge you to schedule regular bite size activities in your day to help with self-care, while showing evidence of forward moving accomplishments.
Some of the things you may want to schedule daily to eliminate overwhelm are:
- Morning Quiet Time, Personal Check-in, Reflection, or Prayer
- Time to push back from your day and look at the big picture
- A taste of fun
- Interaction with loved ones
- Connection with the outside world
How can you use lists strategically to help you? What are some of your ideas?
