Day 28 Are You an Artist and Mystic?

Day 16 Pickuptruckglorysigned

I’ve been an artist since childhood. Weren’t we all in our carefree early years before judgment and the demand for productivity arose in our consciousness? In my life those creative aspects never fell to the wayside, but have in fact, become more of a life style than merely a product producing activity. I have never stopped creating even though at times I’ve tried to tame the wild unboxed nature of this gift and hide it beneath other aspects of myself, be it life coach or activator.

The way I see the world and seem to process life is through two unique lenses that for a great deal of my life I struggled to recognize, own or articulate, often attempting to put on other lenses that caused confusion and blurred vision. These lenses could best be described as that of an artist mystic. Though I didn’t always understand this, these lenses, offer a way of seeing in which everything rises and reflects a mirror of the whole of life.

Everything in life offers an invitation to wonderment and awe. Yet it is the artist mystic’s unique nature and ability to recognize the spark’s light within a barren backdrop, the flash of recognition within a pile of rubble or the inspiration calling from a drippy faucet, seeing in the ordinary that which is anything but ordinary and that which the naked eye might miss.

It is from these golden shimmers of inspiration that the artist then must express. Insights, inclinations, blocks and even judgments hidden within everyday clay, as well as a bird’s song, the smell of the wind, or the musty old attic’s lure, are invitations to notice what is being spoken in the moment. These reflections and discoveries are like gold to the artist mystic and hold value all within themselves, apart from process or results. The artist mystic feels they might burn a hole in ones pocket if not brought forth onto canvas or paper, as a pregnant mother cannot restrain herself from bringing forth the child within.

“The heart of human identity is the capacity and desire for birthing. To be is to become creative and bring forth the beautiful.” John O’Donohue

Artistic and mystical contemplation are not about an end result, but as a monk is hidden away within the halls of a great Abbey, so is the modern day mystic called into the great reservoirs of the inner monastery, connecting and seeing everything as sacred. Artists inherently open up new ways of seeing the world and often are seers seeing into the unseen realm.

This does not mean that every creative expression translates into lofty spiritual vocabulary, but rather is the convergence of Spirit’s inspiration expressed uniquely through the life and canvas of the artist. At times it is haunting and mysterious, other moments tongue and cheek and still other times even irreverent in nature. It causes us to wonder, open to possibility and stand in awe of the magnitude of the ultimate Creator in which we reflect.

There is no formula for engaging, only the invitation to still oneself and listen. For the artist mystic this is not merely a suggestion, but an inclination that can hardly be ignored. It is from this awareness of promptings and impressions that one then picks up the paint, instrument, pen or chosen medium. A breeze, a smell, a simple word, phrase, message or image, are the fuel that insights the artist mystic to bring forth expression that cannot remain silent and hidden in the recesses. It is as if through the panting of childbirth, a loud hallelujah rings out and the creation is released.

Day 28 brings me near the end of this year's 30 Days of Creative Expression. It has been a wonderful month of aligning again to my truest nature, responding to the spark of inspiration and the challenge of giving myself permission to allow the Spirit’s breeze to blow upon my flame in any which way it directs. This contemplative time of reflecting and creating will not end, because it is a lifestyle.

I hope you will hang around for the continued journey and chime in with your own insights. If you have struggled to understand or make room for your unique artistic mystical nature, please comment and share your thoughts around this topic. Also, look for creative prompts and further discussion about the mystic artist.

Day 9 Lack Rescinded

prego signed

Do you ever wonder what stops the flow of inspiration? Why does the well dry up and you feel parched and dry when the water supply is within and not out of reach?

Sometimes I put myself through mental gymnastics thinking I am isolated and alone, much like I felt as a child. That is UNTIL I realize that even if I feel alone, I've never ever been alone, except in my perceptions.

I know its popular to talk about perception, mindsets and shifts these days, but its because we are waking up to a reality that has always existed, but we've failed to see. We’ve had the wool pulled over our eyes, while in actuality the veil no longer exists.

We’ve looked outside of ourselves for the mirror image that exists within. We’ve looked for inspiration outwardly, when inspiration is busting at the seams with breath and life, hope’s meter tapping away love's melody, wooing and including us in the passionate dance and resonance of life.

When I bump up next to you I feel the spray of breath, inspiration filling the air, new and alive, bumping up against the life of inspiration within me. It’s the patter of little feet, the baby in the womb stirring to the sound of the Father’s voice and likeness in each of us.

It’s asking you what you carry, what joy you're pregnant with and what life you have to deliver? Grace announces that lack has been rescinded.

Lack Rescinded

Starving while the table is set, this gap forgetting where there is no lack.

Swallowed up in Trinity glory, friendship of fullness, ache subsided.

Wrapped in over-loved goodness, caressed and lavished inexplicably strong.

You are not far off as some might be. You are not a wonderer, not like me.

You are steady and sure and constant devotion, like the ocean overflowing the beach.

Lapped up in embrace, no morsels of rationing,

no short sale, no barter for goods. Love completeness, flourishing full.

Are You Chained By Your Thoughts?

It's easy to look around and think something outside ourselves is the cause of our struggle or issues in life. I certainly have and still do at times. But when we begin to recognize our outer struggles are related to an inside perspective, things begin to shift.

We might think our lack of income, provision, health, or relational issues are the cause of what’s stopping us. We might be tempted to measure our reality by our surroundings, not recognizing that reality is not a fixed dimension, but an interpretation.

Hopefully our awareness and paradigms will continually expand and we will out grow the limitations we’ve previously perceived. (I continue to discover thoughts and perceptions that I didn’t know I had and regularly make the choice to reframe the way I see life and I hope you do to.)

It’s when our thinking is entrenched (actually stuck in a groove) that we’ve chained ourselves to an idea that becomes a law that rules over us. A belief only has power to master us if we believe it is the law, or authoritative rule. When we move out of a legal relationship to it, we immediately open ourselves up to experience a profound shift.

How To Get Unchained

Suppose we recognize an area where we're stuck and even identify the thought or emotion that has been hindering us, how do we get unchained? Do we strain and try harder to think differently? No, trying harder actually tightens the grip of the negative or old way of seeing things.

When we stop focusing on the negative the negative stops being attached to us. When we open ourselves up to other possibilities we actually release ourselves from the entrenched thought or way of seeing and effortlessly begin to experience an exchange. When we release something there is actually a shift in our brain that allows us to perceive an alternative perspective.

Something only remains attached to us when instead of living in the expansiveness of love and the openness of liberty; we are living from the fear driven reality of a legal exchange. What do I mean by this? Notice the way doubt driven thinking measures things out in tit for tat, such as, “If do this, I am owed this” or “If I am not enough of this, this will be the result.” We all have some legal, punishment driven perspectives that hinder us until we awaken to a greater reality, beyond payment for a good performance and punishment for a perceived inadequate performance.

Many people never live beyond a legal, law, head relationship to life, as they process the world linearly, even reducing God to a rule keeper that keeps us disempowered and our hands tied, rather than owning the bad rap we may have attached to God instead live in the expansiveness, liberty and freedom intended for us. This is a big one!

A clue to recognize this perspective within yourself is to notice when you feel shame, “shoulding,” “not-enoughing,” feelings of powerlessness and victimization or internal or external judgment. These are signs that a legal perspective is hiding somewhere. (I just exchanged a legal perspective that was disempowering me for a dandy upgrade in my perspective this week!) When we get out of our head and move beyond dividing things up from a perceived knowledge of "good and evil" and awaken to true liberty, transformation takes place.

Far too smart1

Willpower Is a Dud!

Living under the "law" is the same as willpower. It only works for a while, but can't carry you very far for the long haul. Fitness experts understand that lasting change requires a change and expansion in thinking and lifestyle. Self-help and trying harder will never lead to true transformation. Transformation happens on an entirely different plane. Even grasping this concept on a cognitive level doesn’t bring about transformation.

Transformation happens as we experience an exchange from a legal entity lens into the law of perfect liberty, which transcends intellect. This is the realm of love and faith, a reality beyond time and space or quantifiable dimensions.

It’s easy to focus on the negative because it's the lowest form of reality, but living in the negative (place of lack) and seeing the negative keeps us bound to the letter of the law rather than to life and liberty, which in my faith belief is Christ within me.

Science informs us that we can actually see the exchange take place in the brain from negativity to possibility. When we are thinking negative, low level thoughts our brain looks like a scorched, barren tree. Conversely, when we are thinking expansive thoughts of love, joy, and peace, our brain looks like a flourishing, fruitful tree.

When we choose faith, love and hope we let go of linear, control-base thinking and move into wide-open spaciousness, beyond limitation. Are you living in the freedom of perfect liberty or merely living under the law? Want help getting unchained? If something resonates in your spirit, but you're struggling to process the words through the wall of entrenched thoughts and ideas, take a risk, take a leap into freedom and get support!

Day 25, Love, 30 Days of Creative Expression

Day 25 LoveToday I drew the Love SPIRIT@WORK® Card! It’s hard to beat this topic.

Lance Secretan wrote, “Here’s the truth: inspiration to greatness comes from love, not from fear, competition or war.”

In my opinion, love is the reason we are here and the driving force in and through the universe. Human love is a small inkling and shadow of the Divine love that delights to uphold the fabric of time.

Love is a mystical entity that no words can do justice. However, in simple terms, love is the letter in the mailbox from a friend that arrives just when you need it. Love is the preference shown to the lady in the grocery line with one item, while you have 50.

Love is the sacrifice of the last piece of chocolate cake when you could have eaten the whole thing. Love is the food given to a hungry stranger that you may never see again.  Love is the hand holding offered a friend when she receives a diagnosis and everyday of her fight. Love is what propels individuals in the work to eradicate slavery when it never reaches their own front door.

Love is the kindness shown to those who show no kindness to you. Love is a gift that the moment you experience it, you stop in your tracks to let it sink deeply within. Love is selflessness and although humanly imperfect, is Divinely magnificent. Love never fails and never ends, so the list never stops.

How does love uphold you and your world?

Day 14, Soulspace, 30 Days of Creative Expression

Goat 1Today I drew the Soulspace SPIRIT@WORK® Card by Lance Secretan. Immediately it made me think of the theme song from Green Acres, an American sitcom starring Eddie Albert and Eva Gabor broadcast on CBS in the early 70’s. The show told the story of a unique couple who move from New York City to a rural country farm, contrasting the husbands down home nature with his wife’s taste for finer things.

Here are the words to the theme song by Vic Mizzy,

"Green acres is the place for me.

Farm living is the life for me.

Land spreading out so far and wide.

Keep Manhattan, just give the countryside.

New York is where I'd rather stay.

I get allergic smelling hay.

I just adore a penthouse view.

Dah-ling I love you but give me Park Avenue."

We each have a soul-space that feeds our inner well.  For some people it’s the outdoors that lavishes nurturing and inspiration like a bubbling brook. For others it’s a beautiful room with sentimental reminders of love's colors, faces and fragrances.

Being rather eclectic, I have a plethora of environments that inspire me, whether dipping my toes in the blue ocean and breathing in the sea air, curling up on a comfy corner of the sofa to read by the fire, sitting under a vine covered arbor at my favorite Greek Restaurant, laughing with friends or family over a dinner party, or exposing myself to live entertainment or exhibits. It is necessary that I honor my unique soul-spaces to stay refreshed and inspired. The greatest soul-space of all is not the luxuries of the outer world, but the sacred space within that restores and refreshes from the inside out. This soul-space is best nurtured through quiet God focus and contemplation.

What is your most treasured soul-space?

Day 12-Bliss, 30 Days of Creative Expression

BlissToday I picked the BLISS SPIRIT@WORK ® Card.

Lance Secretan wrote concerning the BLISS Card,

“We are on this planet for a short time-this gift is in itself an inspiration. We are here to realize our bliss: to live out our dreams, to serve, to savor the possibilities of our full potential. “

I know when I have wondered away from my heart the sense of BLISS is absent. Although not every moment in life is BLISS filled, we can choose to live from a place of gratitude and find our experience overrun with BLISS, if not externally, internally.

BLISS, like the other principals in the collection is not contingent on our external circumstances, but our inner perspective and state of being.

Nelson Mandela is a prime example of this. Although we can be tried by many situations that challenge our BLISS, what better sweetness could waft from our lives than BLISS?

Gratitude and BLISS make lovely companions. Think on what you are grateful for in this moment and notice your BLISS ratio soar!

Savor the BLISS! As my gift of gratitude for you, I invite you to download my free gift and fun energy boost, 100 Keys to Cease Striving and Enter Into Irresistible Bliss at

DAY 11-Hope, 30 Days of Creative Expression

Today's SPIRIT@WORK ® Card is: HOPE. Langston Hughes wrote,

“Hold fast to dreams
 for if dreams die
 life is a broken-winged bird
that cannot fly. Hold fast to dreams
for when dreams go
life is a barren field
 frozen with snow.”

Without HOPE we fail to dream and without dreams we fail to have inspiration. Where HOPE is lost darkness ensues.

I have known plenty of dark seasons in my life, as I am sure you have too. Without HOPE I would never have seen the daylight after the death of my first husband. Without HOPE I would not have moved forward to mother my four children and experience the sunshine of HOPE rise in my heart.

I believe HOPE is accompanied by faith and faith is accompanied by trust. Because I am convinced that there is a Supreme Being that loves me, I have faith in that love. That faith allows me to trust and HOPE that the sun will rise on whatever my circumstances may be presently. When I am struggling to maintain HOPE, I recall the many love wonders that have transpired in my life and I can't help but feel a shift in my countenance.

HOPE is a value we must nurture.

Lance Secretan wrote concerning the HOPE SPIRIT@WORK ® Card,

“We all have two kinds of energy: our light and shadow. Though the shadow often appears as darkness, it is always within our power to shine the brilliance of our light there. Indeed we must always do so, because even the deepest darkness will give way to light. By shining our light, we can find our way and thereby inspire others. In this way, we provide hope.”

How do you nurture your HOPE?

Day 10-Transformation, 30 Days of Creative Expression

Day 10

I believe TRANSFORMATION begins with a change in perception. As perceptions change, the old way of viewing the world in an “either”, “or”, mindset, gives way to greater possibility and wholeness.

Inspiration is important, but TRANSFORMATION is even more powerful. If we're merely to stay in the reality that we currently exist, in a mindset that this is it, we fail to comprehend the vastness that exists beyond our mere rational understanding. TRANSFORMATION moves one into a new realm of awareness and experience beyond what can be seen with natural sight and understanding.

Richard Rohr wrote,

“We need to rediscover the Sic et Non approach in our politics and in our churches. Otherwise, I do not know what we are offering the world except violence, because angry conversation creates angry minds and angry hearts and eventually angry behavior. It seems to me that we have the possibility from our own Tradition of raising up the capacity for humane, dialogical, Sic et Non conversations—where I do not need to prove that you are wrong. I do not need to pretend that I am totally right. I can keep my mind and my heart open.

Dualistic people use knowledge, even religious knowledge, for the purposes of ego enhancement, shaming, and the control of others and themselves. Non-dual people use knowledge for the transformation of persons and structures, but most especially to change themselves and to see reality with a new eye and heart.”

Lance Secretan wrote for the TRANSFORMATION SPIRIT@WORK® Card, a tool he uses with corporate leadership,

“During the decades ahead, we will see spiritual transformations unfold that today can only be imagined….We are at the end of an old-story human paradigm that viewed power as something to be exploited, as a means to control, as a weapon with which to intimidate others. In this age of Consciousness, power is founded on an attitude of abundance; it is spiritual, not material or physical power, and it is a divine resource residing in, and available, to us all. It is just waiting to be nourished and shared. This is a power that we have not even been able to imagine before-and it is sacred.”

How would the idea of TRANSFORMATION preceded by a change of heart and perception move you out of your logical understanding into a deeper realm?

For further support with changing your perceptions and seeing differently order my book, Untamed Heart, Releasing Your Creative Genius now![product id="2047" sku=""]

Day 9-Beauty, 30 Days of Creative Expression

Lance Secretan wrote about the BEAUTY SPIRIT@WORK ® Card, “ If we fail to see the beauty in each other, we fail to honor each other, and where there is no honor, there can be no inspiration.”

Today my thirty-day challenge: 30 Days of Creative Expression is about BEAUTY.

We’ve all heard the saying, “BEAUTY is in the eye of the beholder.” However, BEAUTY is not merely an outer reality dependent upon our various tastes and perceptions, but BEAUTY is also a state-of-being.

Have you ever noticed that one day you feel quite beautiful and the next despicable, because you’re having a bad hair day? Has anything really change from one day to the next?

What if BEAUTY was truly a state-of-being? What if you’re BEAUTY wasn’t dependent on what you felt depicted in your mirror on a certain day, but on an unchanging validation that you received by the mere fact that you exist?

If you were to truly own that love-validation how might that change your beauty-perception of yourself and others?

Day 2 of 30 Days of Creative Expression

photo 1Join the fun! I hope you'll hang out with me and take part in the conversation around my challenge: 30 Days of Creative Expression. You need not be an artist to unleash your inspiration. You can take part in anyway you desire by commenting on my posts related to the topic for the day, write, or art journal with me for the month and share your discoveries and creations.

My goal is to create collaboration and conversation around the daily Spirit@Work® Card that I select on my handy iPhone app created by Lance Secretan. Today I selected, Inspiration.

There is much fuss about new beginnings when we enter a New Year. Sometimes things aren't so different and you may wonder why all the hype and enthusiasm. You may be feeling like the people in my illustration, following suit like everyone else on the moving sidewalk, in a fog of sleep.

Things don't have to be radically different on the outside for you to begin to be inspired on the inside. Take a look at the Dictionary definition of the word Inspiration.

1 the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, esp. to do something creative.

•the quality of having been so stimulated, esp. when evident in something:a rare moment of inspiration in an otherwise dull display.

• a sudden brilliant, creative, or timely idea.

• divine influence.

2 the drawing in of breath; inhalation.

ORIGIN Middle English (in the sense ‘divine guidance’)

Challenge yourself for a moment and imagine the wealth of treasure stored up and waiting to be ignited and released through you! Imagine for a moment that instead of taking the regular route, head down, following the crowd like a swarm of bees, you broke with the pattern and connected to the divine breathe moving uniquely through you. Imagine that you opened yourself up to the breath of Inspiration guiding and directing you.

Take a risk to be inspired! Take a risk to breath in Inspiration and move out of stale and sleepy!

How might you be an open channel for inspiration today?

Day 1-Infusion, 30 Days of Creative Expression & A New Way of Being

Infused in a love state of beingToday I begin my thirty-day challenge: 30 Days of Creative Expression. I hope you will follow along and play as I daily post my art journaling images and thoughts for the day. My goal is to create a conversation and collaborative effort. I invite you to follow along, journaling with me in your own unique way around the theme that I am discussing for the day. You can read more about this here

Many people are launching into the New Year with resolutions and goals. However, I like to think of a new beginning as a new way of being, not merely doing.

When we merely focus on action steps and outer standards while ignoring our inner being we will find that we are out of alignment and rattled with incongruence; confusion; lack of clarity; lack of fulfillment; and all manner of shifting sand.

It seems we have it backwards. What if we flipped this around and lived from the inside out by focusing on our inner climate and way of being prior to focusing outwardly. This is the ultimate realignment that will manifest in a new way of being. In this way our circumstances will not dictate our well-being, but our way of being will alter our circumstances.

This year, I will continue to invest in the quality of soil my life is being built upon and continue supporting others in the same manner. There’s simply no comparison in the fruit that’s yielded from rich soil, reflected through state of being-love, joy, peace, gratitude, compassion, inspiration, hope, clarity, inner faith and insight.

The thought and word I am pondering today for the art journaling image posted here is from Lance Secretan's SPIRIT@WORK ® Card: Infusion.

Lance Secretan said, "Most business organizations and not-for-profit institutions have "Programs." But it's not programs we need. We don't  have a "Sunset Appreciation Program" - instead, we sit in a sacred place and experience a sunset, and in this way, it infuses us with spirit. Programs intrude, an experience infuses."

How do you plan to nurture and invest in your state of being to experience an inner infusion of love, joy, peace, gratitude, etc.? How will you incorporate the word "Infusion" into your day? I'd love to hear your thoughts and have you join the conversation!

Are You Wasting Time With Lesser Lovers?

Heaven 1Have you thought about what you want in the New Year? I’m not talking about the often-typical coach verbiage of outer goals and action plans, bigger businesses and greater bottom lines. I’m talking about the deeper things that are felt and experienced with the heart, such as: excitement, gratitude, appreciation, being in the present, heightened awareness of the senses, anticipation, hope, inspiration, love, and peace to name a few.

Should you be moving forward with an action plan consider the things that often get second notice. Yet, when these attributes are ignited, they spark everything around them into a greater flame. When they are absent blindness sets in to the wealth that exists in unexpected places.

If it’s been a while since you looked up from your desk, or pile of laundry and you’ve forgotten what excitement, or gratitude feels like, watch a child and you’ll quickly witness excitement over simple things. You’ll see love and appreciation for having the most beautiful mommy on the planet, gratitude when an adult sits to read awhile, anticipation for what’s coming and the ability to be fully engaged in the moments play.

This kind of presence means halting the busy work that’s an easy distractor and exit ramp named ‘avoidance.’ It means getting beyond the superfluous clutter and noise, and the striving after lesser lovers to hone in on the greater thing.

I confess I’m a girl that has always had a need for speed and the feeling of the wind in my hair, but I never want to confuse these lesser lovers for the real thing.

This week, next week and in the New Year lets determine what matters most. Reignite excitement for the simple beauty all around that may have grown dim. Focus on the sheer joy and inspiration of living in the present, breathing in each moment.

Here’s my Be Here Now Manifesto. You may want to write your own.

Be Here Now Manifesto

Spend time with family savoring each one-of-a-kind presence, etched faces, and curvy smiles.

Linger over delicious meals, surrounded by robust laughter and engaging conversation with those I love.

Steal away to a glorious beach hideaway to dip my toes in the sand and notate the poetry that stirs on my lips.

Enjoy porch sitting, summertime-ice tea, breezes and screen doors.

Live fully in the divine intoxication of love.

Curl up in a cozy corner to linger over wisdom writers.

Bundle up for wintery moonlight walks.

Breathe in ordinary days dusted with creative splurges and impulses a glow.

Unplug from technology and spend time learning more about my lover, as if we’ve met for the first time.

Leave behind dime store trinkets, cotton candy grabs at empty pursuits that blind & handcuff.

Unlearn more of what I think I know.

Live in childlike exploration and wonder.

Let go of offenses, judgments, incongruences and preoccupations that keep me living below my true self.

Embrace my identity: fully loved by God.

Remain open to what’s divinely initiated, sip grace and lavishly embrace life with gratitude.

I Did What You’re Never Supposed to Do!

I did what you’re never supposed to do!

I stopped my business cold in its tracks and took a breather. As if the track ended, others marched on and I veered off and let the train intentionally come to a complete halt.

Sometimes we need to give our self-permission to re-evaluate, take a hiatus, or merely regroup, because if we settle for the lesser we will forfeit the greater.

It is said that 98% of the planet spends 98% of their time on what matters little. I decided that I wanted to invest my time in what matters most. Truthfully what matters most is not the temporary attachments that we often settle for. What matters most is not the outer world that we work to control, but inner peace, inspiration, and well being, all benefits of a cared for inner world.

Having taken the time to let all the extraneous things fall away and focus on my inside world, I feel more clarity, energy, creativity, and purpose than I have in sometime. The things that are true for me have floated to the top of my barrel and I’ve let the toxins run off and out of sight.

How have you taken something you’re never supposed to do and made it work for you?

The Deliciousness of 2012

Kimberism: Internal abundance can't co-exists with fear, worry, or bitterness. The prospects of a New Year can create a slew of mixed emotions for many. Although one wants to hope for good things, unrealized dreams and past disappointments can serve to  anchor one to past or current pain.

Every New Year I spend time waiting for revelation and insight for the season ahead. Interestingly this year I heard the word “hopelicious” in my spirit. Honestly, this past year was a constant exercise in faith. As soon my hope tank was filled something new came along to drain it. So instead of reeling with excitement, I pondered the word “hopelicious.”

But then following this first bit of encouragement I heard, “Faith is the vehicle that moves hope into a reality.” Now were talking! Faith is the industrial strength substance that is necessary to weather any storm and be carried from where we are into the unseen.

The dictionary describes hope as: the feeling that what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best.

It also describes delicious as: very pleasing and delightful, especially to taste or smell.

The word “hopelicious” goes well with my current mode of visual inspiration; the cupcake! For months now cupcakes have appeared in much of my artwork. I now understand the metaphor that goes perfectly with "hopelicious!"

Although not everything turns out the way we want or think it should, I have found that in time most things turn out better than we could have imagined. Dreaming the Dream

Kimberism: “A man is not old until regrets take the place of dreams.” John Barrymore I love to dream. I’m not merely speaking of dreaming with my heart, but dreaming at night. It’s amazing to me that I can be passively sleeping and receive inspiration through a dream.

Last night I had a dream that caused me to awake with excitement. It reminded me that no matter how difficult times may be we must strive to stay connected to our joy. In the dream I saw a teleprompter broadcasting the phrase, “Turn your black and white dreams in for Technicolor.”

When times are difficult it is easy to be tempted to shut down, or throw out ones dreams. However, in my dream I was being encouraged to turn up the brightness, not dumb down my dreams.

In the 1998 film Pleasantville, life was in black and white until people’s hearts began to be awakened. Suddenly the whole town started coming to life, but not without ample resistance. There will always be circumstances to challenge our dreams. However, during times of difficulty its not time to do away with dreaming, its time to unleash our greatest creativity!

What are you doing to stoke the embers of your dreams? How are you keeping the fire of your passion alive?

Go From Stressed-Out to Blissed-Out

Kimberism: Stress isn't about what happens to us, but rather our reaction to it.

Several times over the years my body has responded to life by refusing to carry on and collapsing in fatigue. Although the work to rebuild my adrenals, healthy thyroid function and overall energy has been time consuming and frustrating, the process reminded me, “If a vision lacks bliss check to see if it is divinely-powered or self-powered.”

Most of us are able to do a lot, I mean a lot in our own strength. Mankind has an amazing fortitude. However, the point is not to live in a consistent state of testing ones fortitude. Its clear that like the Energizer Bunny our batteries need to be recharged. Rather than testing my strength and becoming maxed-out I would rather tap into a superior strength that powers me to live at a higher state of bliss. How about you?

Gold Digger

Kimberism: Never quit being a gold digger. Uncover your gold and other's gold too!

Recently I failed to see the wealth of possibility before me although my son Gabriel encouraged me with a story about a miner who sold his land, because he failed to uncover the wealth of gold buried below the surface. Gabriel went on to relay that the new owner moved in and effortlessly hit the mother-load just feet away from where the original owner stopped digging.

Have you ever had a day when you were blinded by the brilliant gold in your life and gotten schooled by your kid? I know I am the queen of moxie, but sometimes my moxie needs to be upleveled!

I am familiar with the idea of buried treasure. I actually coach women around this very issue, so it’s understandable that at times I need to be reminded of the importance of mining for buried treasure in my own life. The truth is the theme never becomes outdated, because we each possess an unending wealth of gold within us.

As if that mining story wasn't enough of a road sign, another of my inspiring children, Joshua, came home from work spouting that he needed a new job. It seemed his current job refused to give him time off for the important family trip we had planned. Two hours later he had followed a lead, interviewed and come home with more than a job, but rather an expansive opportunity! (You gotta love kids who are coached and return the favor to their momma!)

What I love about the mining story and witnessing my son hit the mother-load job is that none of the results came about through striving. Both stories demonstrate that the results came effortlessly by entering into grace.

The reason we have internal gold is for it to be mined and shared, yet how we go about mining does affect our results. Are you striving and seeing little results? Practice stepping back from your surroundings and re-entering in where you see grace.

Nurturing the Creative Within

Kimberism: Creativity is merely a reflection of Divine Inspiration.

Being a “creative” I can’t help but create. I believe we were all born to create in the image of the One who created us! Even though I have a natural propensity toward creating often I stumble into patterns that shut down my creativity tendencies.

Because of this struggle to stay in a “creative space” I have learned personal criteria that is essential to nurturing my creative nature. Although the keys I am about to share with you may seem unrelated to creativity, they create the right environment for innovation to flourish. I am sharing the keys that work for me, so you can determine what works for you.

My Keys for Nurturing the Creative Within

1. Awareness that Heaven Speaks and Engage In the Conversation

The number one criteria that helps me nurture my creativity is understanding, inquiring of and remaining open to the ultimate source of creativity, who I personally refer to as God. That means being open for heavenly communication.

2. Thankfulness Leads the Way

When I am thankful I remain in an open childlike posture positioned to receive. As soon as I loose sight of all that I have to be thankful for immediately my creative reservoirs run dry. For me thankfulness is lived out in a life style of worship in all I do, be it coaching clients, attending my son’s soccer game, or emptying the trash. Through thankfulness I become an open container ready to receive creative inspiration.

3. Resist Striving

When I remain in the present I can access possibility. When I strive to control, or force things to happen I surrender grace for the present moment and time. The paradox is that sometimes I must strive to be at rest.

This criteria has been helpful in my life and many of my clients. If you want to go further into practical aspects of creative exploration, pick up my new ebook, Right Brain Advantage: Creating Success By Thinking Like a First Grader. Find it on the product page of my website
